Learn the Art of Hand Embroidery
I teach embroidery workshops and short courses for a range of abilities, from complete beginners to experienced stitchers looking to expand their technical skills.
Drawing on my training as a Royal School of Needlework Tutor and my practice as a contemporary embroiderer, my classes combine traditional hand embroidery techniques with contemporary design, symbolism and storytelling. Subjects include Goldwork, silk shading, contemporary embroidery, wearable embroidery and decorative hand stitching.
Classes are available through the Royal School of Needlework, private workshops and selected guest teaching opportunities.

Blackwork Pear from the Kitchen Garden
The RSN's beautiful Blackwork Pear class is an excellent opportunity to explore a variety of blackwork techniques. You'll learn how to do traditional outlining in blackwork techniques such as Octagon Star, a variation of Octagonal Square, and tulip stitch. Inspired by the kitchen gardens of Hampton Court Palace, this stunning pear design is a contemporary twist on a traditional technique combining metallic threads and traditional blackwork to create a contemporary design.
All materials needed to complete this design will be provided. Please bring a notebook and pen if you would like to make any notes. You are also more than welcome to video all demonstrations for
personal use only.

Tears of St.Clare Brooch
Inspired by the symbolic eye motifs from my award-winning artwork The Tears of Saint Clare, this beginners Goldwork class explores traditional embroidery techniques through the creation of a contemporary wearable brooch.
Students will learn couching and cutwork techniques, embellishing their piece with a faceted gemstone and crystal teardrop. Drawing on devotional imagery, symbolism and ecclesiastical embroidery traditions, the finished brooch combines technical craftsmanship with contemporary storytelling.
